KONSEP DAN IMPLEMENTASI PROFESIONALISME GURU DALAM MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS PENDIDIKAN

A profession can be interpreted as a job or position that requires specialized skills learned and trained in line with existing qualifications, with certain commitments and moral standards. Teachers need specific skills that cannot be practiced by others outside the scope of education. A professional teacher is a teacher who has a collective awareness of his or her role as an educator. According to the Law and Government Regulations, a professional teacher must have four competencies: pedagogic, personality, professional and social. The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of teacher professionalism and its application to improve the quality of education. The author of this study used a qualitative approach by conducting library research, focusing on literature, including books, journals, articles and sources from the internet. This method aims to draw relevant conclusions from various points of view. To analyze the data, we collected various sources using the content analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that professionalism is very important to advance education in Indonesia and is a demand in the work for teachers, therefore there are laws and some assumptions that organize and underlie teacher professionalism in education.
